The former head coach of the Ukrainian national team and Dynamo Kyiv, Jozsef Szabo, recalled how he pulled young Andriy Shevchenko out of a bad company and helped him open up.
"When Shevchenko's father was alive, he told him: "Andrii, you should erect a monument to Jozsef Jozsefowicz during your lifetime." He said this because he knew what we did to take Andriy out of those hands, where he was taught to smoke and drink and his wife was 10-12 years older.
Once we were driving to the base, and something flew past me like a rocket. When I arrived, I saw that it was Shevchenko driving a sports Mercedes. I took the keys from him. By the way, two people were killed in this car, which he later sold but had not yet re-registered," Sabo said in an interview with the Football Hut YouTube channel.
