Football agents will earn a whopping €1bn from transfers by the end of 2023, according to a report published by FIFA.
According to FIFA, there is now a steady trend of agents earning huge commissions on transfers at the highest level. In the last summer window, they received $696.6 million, which is about 10 per cent of the total transfers for the period. By comparison, in 2013, agents "got" just 5.8 per cent of the amount. Although there are still more than 4 months to go, FIFA is confident that the 1 billion mark will be reached with ease, because so far the amount for agents in the calendar year is $865 million or 38.8 per cent more compared to 2022.
It should be kept in mind that the FIFA report only takes into account international transfers and not domestic transfers, meaning the actual total amount of agent commissions is already well over a billion.
