The German Football Association has announced the dismissal of the national team's head coach Hans-Dieter Flick. Flick's assistants Markus Sorg and Danny Röhl have also resigned.
"The German national team needs a new impetus after recent disappointing results. We need to regain a spirit of optimism and confidence before the European Championships that will take place in our country.
For me personally, this is one of the most difficult decisions of my tenure as director because I value the professional and human qualities of Hansi Flick and his assistants. At the same time, sporting success is a top priority for the German Football Association, so the decision was inevitable," said Bernd Neuendorf, the association's director.
