UEFA appoints Russian referees for Women's Nations League match

UEFA has appointed a team of Russian referees for the Women's Nations League match between Armenia and Kazakhstan, which will take place on 26 September in Armavir. Vera Opeikina will be the chief referee, Ekaterina Kurochkina and Elena Sobchuk will be the linesmen, and Nadezhda Gorinova will be the fourth referee.

It should be noted that this decision is a precedent. UEFA has never appointed referees from the aggressor country for international matches since Russia's attack on Ukraine.

Last February, FIFA and UEFA suspended Russian clubs and national teams from all international competitions.
