Sergei Rebrov: "If you don't realise chances in such matches, it is difficult to count on a positive result".

Head coach of the national team of Ukraine Serhiy Rebrov on air "Suspilny" summarised the results of the match of the qualifying cycle of Euro 2024 against Italy (1:2), which took place today in Milan.

- We realised that the match would be so difficult. For the second match in a row we played against a top opponent. That is why it was very difficult for us. We tried to attack, had chances in the second half, but failed to realise them.

If in matches with such opponents you do not realise your chances, it is very difficult to count on a positive result. And, by the way, I do not understand why they say that the Italian national team is in crisis: this team showed its high level today.

Again, we tried to attack, but the intensity of the game was very high. Nevertheless, we scored one goal, came back into the game and tried to avoid defeat.

- Why was Mudryk not included in the starting lineup?

- Because he had to add speed in the second half.

- How do you assess the two September matches - against England and Italy?

- We played against very difficult opponents. But the match with England showed that we can play with opponents of such level. Football is not about possession, but about chances and scoreboard. In any case, these two matches were very useful for us in terms of the future. We will prepare thoroughly for the next matches.
