Manchester United head coach Erik ten Heg has admitted that the club asked him to take a firm stance on his players amid the conflict with Jaydon Sancho.
"Strict standards are what the club asked me to do. Before the start of last season, there was no good culture in the team to set high standards, so that's what I did. It's my job to control the standards.
Nobody makes one mistake, it's a whole process before you get close to the strict standards. There is a structure that you can't go beyond, so you have to be strong," the press service of the Ministry of Justice quoted ten Hug as saying.
