Former Dynamo Kyiv forward Perica Ognjenovic explains why he never managed to play for the club he played for in 2004-2005.
- Why didn't you manage to play at Dynamo?
- I came to Dynamo after a long break due to a serious injury. Kyiv had already formed a team with a lot of attacking players and I didn't have much of a chance to play. I didn't want to wait long and decided to leave Dynamo, I needed to play. If I had stayed, I might have got a chance in the first team later.
I would also like to emphasise that I was a right winger, and for some reason Mykhailychenko played me in the centre of the pitch. This also played a role, because it is not my native position.
- Did you have any contact with Mykhailychenko?
- We talked a few times, but it was his choice, he didn't explain the details.
- Did you meet with Igor Surkis often?
- We had normal relations with him, professional relations. Surkis often visited the base. He is a good and positive person, his attitude towards the team was excellent.
- Who was the coolest Dynamo player of your time?
- I can mention Havrancic and Rincon. They surprised me with their efforts in training and in the game.
- What surprised you about Dynamo compared to Real Madrid?
- We spent a very long time at the base in Koncha Zaspa. At Real Madrid, you had two hours of training and then you could go home, while Dynamo stayed in Koncha Zaspa from 9am to 9pm. It was a bit unusual for me.
