The previous day Porto played another game in the Portuguese Primera, beating Estrela 1-0 away. The goal was scored by Mehdi Taremi in the 29th minute.
Not only was the victory not easy for the Dragons, but they also lost two players. Centre-back Ivan Marcano and centre-forward Evanilson were unable to finish the match.
Marcano asked for a substitution already in the 8th minute, and Evanilson was also replaced due to an injury in the 15th minute.
The players will undergo an in-depth examination on Saturday, but it is suspected that both players suffered sprains - the Spaniard on the right knee and the Brazilian on the left. Because of this, both Marcano and Evanilson will almost certainly miss the Dragons' next Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Shakhtar vs Porto match will take place on Tuesday, 19 September.
