Benfica coach: 'It was a good day for Trubin'

Benfica head coach Roger Schmidt has assessed Anatoly Trubin's debut for the club in the Portuguese league match against Vizela (2-1):

"He is a very good goalkeeper, he has great potential and we are confident in him, but when a player arrives at the end of the summer it is always difficult to decide when to let him play.

We gave him a few weeks to get used to his team-mates, to gain confidence and to get in shape. In the first matches I put Samuel Soares, who also showed himself well, so I think we have a great choice at the goalkeeper position.

Now it was the right time to put Trubin in the game. He didn't have a lot of work to do, but he possessed the ball very well. It was very important for him to play, because when you play you become part of the team. It was a very good day for Trubin, we are happy," Schmidt said.
