Moreno put the ball in the net, levelling the score and providing the spectators with an exciting second half. The second half was a tense struggle and tactical substitutions from both sides. In the 53rd minute, Almeria's A. Embarba received a yellow card, signalling the team's disappointment. Villarreal decided to refresh their squad with two substitutions: C. Romero and E. Capoue replaced C. Comesana and A. Moreno. Comesana and A. Moreno in the 62nd and 63rd minutes respectively. Almeria also made a substitution: A. Embarba was replaced by L. Puigmal received a yellow card, which added to their disappointment. In a dramatic turn of events, Villarreal player Y. Pino was also yellow carded in the 90th minute. However, it was Villarreal who had the last laugh when A. Sorloth scored a late goal in the 90th minute, securing the win for his team.
