Dynamo Kyiv President Ihor Surkis spoke to Football Hub after the team's 2-0 victory over Vorskla.
Igor Surkis- The guys did a great job. It was a very long break. In fact, the national teams had the whole basis. So I'll repeat that they are good, and they have to make more progress. There are many questions. And the guys see it, and the coach understands. First of all, we need to realise the chances we had, both at the end of the match and at the beginning.
- How difficult was it for you to let Serhiy Sydorchuk go?
- It was a very difficult decision. I talked to Andriy Yarmolenko and Mircea Lucescu. Serhiy deserved to be let go because he gave a lot to Dynamo. And there was no question of money. I wish him to succeed. And he can always return to Dynamo, because he is a loyal Dynamo player. You know, he's the kind of guy who will definitely call me today, and we'll talk.
- You said that you discussed this issue with Yarmolenko. Are you gradually involving him in administrative work?
- Andrii is the team leader, so I asked him for his opinion. And Sydorchuk had a desire to prove himself somewhere else. And I will emphasise once again: he deserved it.
- What is Dynamo's task for the league now?
- We travelled a lot for two years. At first, these were charity matches, there were 18 of them. Planes, buses... And now, if the team prepares properly, we will fight for first place. Our championship has levelled off and, unfortunately, has become weaker. There are no more bright foreigners. Today we had all Ukrainians in the starting line-up. And the team grows when there are stronger performers for the young guys to follow. The same Voloshin. Now young people are breaking into the Dynamo squad and can, like Sydorchuk, play at Dynamo for decades. The war will end, of course, with our victory. And of course we will restore everything. And legionnaires will come to us. This is all clear. But for now, we are not looking at the Western market.
