Myroslav Stupar: "The removal of Obolon's defender is fair, as is the cancellation of the penalty in favour of Shakhtar"

Myroslav Stupar, a reputable referee in the past, commented on the controversial moments of the match between Shakhtar and Obolon on Matchday 7 of the Ukrainian Premier League to the UPL TV Telegram channel:

33 minutes. Removal of Artem Vovkun (Obolon)

- Vovkun's second yellow in the match against Shakhtar is fair, there's nothing to say. This is the player's problem. When you're on a yellow, you have to be careful. In the episode with Sikan, he did not play carefully.

55 minutes. A penalty kick is awarded to Obolon, the decision is cancelled after replay

- In this episode, Balakin first awarded a penalty. Obviously, VAR recommended that he watch the replay. After watching it, he cancelled his decision. Chernenko, who threw himself under the shot and blocked it as if he was pressing his arm to his body. Apparently, at first the referee thought he hit the other hand, which was not pressed. Then he saw it and made the right decision.

Probably, if the referee had not overturned this decision, it would have been a psychological blow for Obolon after the situation with VAR in the match against Polissia, when Kyiv decided to abandon this system at their home matches. And so we saw that the coaching bench applauded Balakin's decision.
