Head coach of Portuguese Porto Sergio Conceição commented on the victory of his team over Shakhtar Donetsk (3:1) in the match of the 1st round of the Champions League group stage, which took place yesterday in Hamburg.
"Something today we managed well, something - not so much. It was the same in previous matches. It's part of the constant evolution of the players within the squad: we want to get stronger and stronger.
But the main thing was to win the game and get three points. However, everything was not so bad in our game, even though it looked far from ideal. Especially, we should take into account that we are talking about a Champions League match. This is the best club competition in the world, and we feel great pride and pleasure to represent such a historic club as ours.
Today I liked our team more in attack, because in defence we again made mistakes that we had in recent Portuguese league games. Offensively, things were much better: we not only created chances, but also showed good realisation of them," Conceição said after the match against Shakhtar.
