Taras Mykhalyk: "The main thing is for Rusyn to reach the level of the English Premier League. It is a very difficult championsh

Former Dynamo Kyiv defender Taras Mykhalyk told us what he thinks about the prospects of Ukrainian newcomer Nazariy Rusin at Sunderland.

"I am happy for Rusin. It's good that he and a few of our other guys, Artem Dovbyk, first of all, went abroad this season. And not just anywhere, but in decent teams. The main thing is that now Nazariy should reach the level of the English Championship (the second highest English division - ed.) It's a very difficult championship. The defenders are mostly tall, they can squeeze and demolish during the serve. Training in English clubs is very intense, at least it used to be. Oleg Luzhny told us about these loads at Dynamo.

But I am sure that physically Rusyn will pull it off. He needs to get a foothold in the base, and then everything will work out and it is very important to mentally get used to England.

Mykhailo Mudryk hasn't been able to get on in the UK yet. In an instant, an avalanche of fans, money, expectations, and criticism from all sides came at him. The psychological pressure on Mykhailo was enormous.

At Zorya, Rusyn was no longer progressing, he was stagnating. He needs to grow. I hope he will play at Sunderland and become another powerful combat unit for the Ukrainian national team, a competitor to Roman Yaremchuk, for example," Ukrainian Football quotes Mykhailyk as saying.
