Myroslav Stupar, a well-known referee in the past, gave his opinion on the refereeing in the Obolon vs Dynamo 1/8 Cup match (1-0) in a commentary for 1927.kiev.ua.
- Each of the teams wanted to win, but Obolon had a greater desire to do so. They also had a bit of luck - they were on their side. Especially in the first half, it was noticeable that the home team wanted to score, which they did. Of course, there were mistakes made by Dynamo's defenders. "The White and Blues tried to attack and win back, but the opposition goalkeeper played well and the defenders also helped him well.
The debutant referee Nazariy Györgyi "did not spoil the porridge". The authority of Dynamo's players put pressure on him. Especially Yarmolenko was "shoving" him, but it didn't make much difference. Fortunately for the referee, there were no controversial moments. There were no complaints that the referee did not contribute to the game. He did not miss anything, there were minor mistakes that were not significant. This is not a reason to complain about his work.
Nevertheless, some incomprehensible sample of referees goes to the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup, where a referee's mistake can be costly. On the other hand, this is a test of professional aptitude. If you make mistakes, then go on training," advised Myroslav Ivanovych.
