Former Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeepers' coach Tomislav Rogic has told what he thinks about the decision of the team's former coach Mircea Lucescu to take charge of Dynamo Kyiv.
"I was not particularly surprised that Lucescu took charge of Dynamo Kyiv. Mr is very fond of Ukraine. He thought he would continue to work with Shakhtar. But the contract was not extended. When we worked with other teams, he asked Nicolini or me how Shakhtar played and all the details of the game.
For Shakhtar, his decision was very difficult. But this is football. Mircea is an adult and is capable of making his own decisions. He wants to work as a coach and loves football. As life has shown, his arrival at Dynamo justified itself - in the first year he won three trophies and led the team to the Champions League. "Dynamo" began to sell players to the leading European championships.
It is true that in 2020, when Lucescu took charge of Dynamo, he talked to me about my possible work in Kyiv team. We all know that Mikhail Mikhailov works at Dynamo. He is a Dynamo legend. It was hard. I said that I would see if there would be any options. Then he called on the phone and said that he didn't want to put pressure on anyone. That's why it did not work out," Sport.ua quoted Rogic as saying.
