PGMOL suspends two referees who worked on VAR in the Tottenham vs Liverpool match

The two assistant referees who worked on VAR in the match of the 7th round of the English Championship between Tottenham and Liverpool (2-1) yesterday, 30 September, have been suspended from their duties.

As a reminder, a goal by the Reds' Luis Diaz was mistakenly cancelled for offside in that game. Later that day, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the body responsible for refereeing in the Premier League, acknowledged this. The video assistants who made the mistake were Darren England and Dan Cook.

It was originally planned that both would work at other matches of the 7th round. England was supposed to be the 4th referee for the Nottingham vs Brentford match on 1 October, and Cook was to be an assistant referee for the Fulham vs Chelsea match tomorrow.

Now, instead of England, Craig Pawson will perform his duties, and Cook will be replaced by Eddie Smart.

Ще під час матчу звернув увагу, як швидко VAR'ом було підтверджено оффсайд, хоча ситуація там була далеко не однозначна.
