Sports doctor on Tsygankov's injury

Sports doctor Dmytro Babeliuk, known for his work at Rukh Lviv, commented on the news of the injury to Girona and Ukraine midfielder Viktor Tsygankov.

Viktor Tsygankov

"Today, Girona dispelled all doubts about Viktor's situation. The Ukrainian winger asked to be replaced at half-time because he felt something in his muscle. After a quick examination, the doctors realised that it was not just a spasm and ordered an MRI scan.

After yesterday's MRI scan, this morning the results came back and confirmed the injury - a back injury, namely the biceps femoris.

Given that the club expects the recovery time to be about 1 month, we can say that this is a first-degree, mild injury that will require about a week of treatment, then a week or two of rehabilitation, and then the same period to return to play.

Special respect to Viktor, who did not aggravate the situation and play through the pain. When he felt the problem, he immediately asked for a substitute, which may have left the injury at grade one, rather than upgrading it to grade two or three, which would have meant a longer recovery.

We wish Viktor well and look forward to seeing him on the pitch!" Babeliuk wrote on his Telegram channel.
