Oksana Gaponenko, the mother of 14-year-old Ukrainian footballer Artem Gaponenko, who signed a contract with Porto, spoke about her son's journey to the big club.
Artem Gaponenko- We left Ukraine on 1 March 2022. At a family meeting, we decided that me, Artem and our youngest daughter would go abroad. There was a lot of panic because of the war, and we didn't know where we were going. In fact, we were going "to nowhere". We stopped in three European countries and, by coincidence, arrived in Porto on 15 March," says Oksana Gaponenko.
