The first goal was scored in the 19th minute when Marseille's C. Mbemba headed the ball into the net. In the 20th minute, another goal from Marseille's J. Veretout followed, and Brighton went into the break with a two goal difference. In the second half, Brighton took the lead and on 55 minutes managed to break through the defence of Marseille, and P. Gross scored the decisive goal. Soon after, Gross received a yellow card for a foul. In the 51st minute, Marseille made their first substitution: J. Veretout replaced A. Unai. In the 67th minute, Brighton made a double substitution: M. Dahoud and A. Fathy replaced B. Gilmour and Joao Unai. In response, Marseille made two simultaneous substitutions in the 62nd minute, replacing J. Correa with I. Sarra and P. Aubameyang with Vitinho.
In the 77th minute Brighton made a third substitution: S. March replaced S. Adingra and D. Welbeck replaced E. Ferguson. In the 79th minute Marseille made the fourth substitution, releasing I. Ndiaye instead of R. Lodi. Near the end of the match several players received yellow cards. In the 87th minute, L. Dank and J. Veltman from Brighton, as well as I. Sarr and J. Clauss from Marseille received warnings. In the last minutes of the game, in the 88th minute, a penalty was awarded to Brighton, which was successfully realised by Joao Pedro. In the 90th minute a yellow card was given to Brighton's E. Ferguson, who received a total of five yellow cards in this tense match. Both teams fought hard throughout the game, showing their determination and skill. Marseille will certainly be disappointed with the result as they missed out on a two goal advantage. Brighton, on the other hand, showed great resilience and character, managing to secure a draw. This match will be remembered as an exciting clash between two competitive teams in the UEFA Europa League. The atmosphere at the Orange Velodrome was tense and the fans were able to watch some exciting football.
