In a thrilling Premier League match at the London Stadium, West Ham and Newcastle played out a 2-2 draw. Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes and West Ham's Emerson were both cautioned by the referee, which spiced up the match. Unfortunately, it was only a foreshadowing of what was to come: as the first half progressed, West Ham's Michail Antonio received a yellow card in the 35th minute, adding to the physicality of the game. The players fought hard, but in the 57th and 62nd minutes it was Newcastle's Aleksandar Isak who hit the visitors' goal. With Newcastle leading 2-1, the tension on the pitch only increased.
The referees kept on giving cards: Newcastle's Miguel Almiron and West Ham's Lucas Paqueta received yellow cards in quick succession in the 67th and 70th minutes respectively. The West Ham manager made two important substitutions in the 75th and 76th minutes, with Saeed Benrahma and Mohamed Koudous replacing Michail Antonio and Tomasz Soucek respectively. These substitutions energised the West Ham attack and kept the pressure on Newcastle. The game continued to be fiercely contested and in the 79th minute Newcastle's Shaun Longstaff was also yellow carded. Sensing the need for further changes, the Newcastle manager made his first substitution in the 82nd minute, replacing Miguel Almiron with Jacob Murphy. Another substitution followed in the 86th minute, with Alexander Isak replacing Callum Wilson. As the final whistle approached, West Ham were desperate to equalise. The effort paid off in the 89th minute when Mohammed Koudous levelled the scores and set the seal on a tight contest. As a last ditch effort, Newcastle also made a substitution in the 90th minute, with Elliot Anderson replacing Matt Targett. Despite efforts from both teams in the final minutes of the match, it ended in a 2-2 draw. The players left the pitch knowing that they had given their best, and the fans were on edge throughout the exciting encounter. It was a game that demonstrated the intensity and excitement that the Premier League is famous for.
