The head coach of Chornomorets Odesa, Roman Hryhorchuk, spoke about his team's tournament objectives and the level of the Ukrainian championship this season.
"Of course, we want to get to the point where we can live a full football life - to play in European competitions and to be in high places in the league. But we have to be realistic about things. We understand that we are not the only ones who want to play in European competitions: there are a number of other teams that have everything to achieve this goal.
Therefore, I believe that the fight for the top positions this season will be very, very fierce. We understand what our strategic plans are, but we have to live day by day, that is, win one particular match to think about the next one. We are going step by step.
I have already said that I do not support the idea that the level of our championship has fallen. I don't think so. Perhaps the level of our top teams is no longer as crazy as, for example, 10 years ago. But what a fight it is now! What equality between all the teams. Now every game is a game! And to win it, you have to make every effort, the team must be at its best in all aspects - physically, tactically, technically and strategically. It is not easy to beat any opponent. We should talk about our championship as a very, very solid tournament," said Grigorchuk.
