Karpaty head coach and former Dnipro coach Myron Markevych has commented on UEFA's decision to cancel the admission of Russian national teams (U-17) to international competitions.
"Justice has prevailed. But I am alarmed how in late September the issue of admission of the aggressor country to football competitions could appear on the agenda of the UEFA Executive Committee.
Shameful - there is no other way to put it. I was shocked. That is why a detailed investigation should be carried out. And if it was the initiative of UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, then we should raise the question of expressing no confidence in him.
It is unacceptable when at the helm of UEFA are functionaries who do not want to see the obvious: Russian criminals kill Ukrainians on their land every day.
I am sure that UEFA did not expect that this decision of the Executive Committee would cause such resistance on the part of the European football society, and had to give, as they say, the back. However, I repeat, it is necessary to conduct an investigation and punish the guilty," Markevych said.
