Former head coach of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko during his participation in the sports festival in Trento spoke out, among other things, about the war that Russia has been waging against Ukraine for almost two years.

However, we also need the Western world in this situation. Sport can also help, football has a huge power to unite people.
Our country now has ruined cities, empty cities. Nevertheless, people are gradually returning to Ukraine and I want to help these people. I saw a stadium near my city destroyed by bombs, and despite that, children were playing there. Part of the help I mentioned was to rebuild that stadium. Sport is an opportunity to take your mind off the war, to forget about it for a moment.
Unfortunately, the statistics of the war are frightening. Many children were forcibly removed from Ukraine, and over 3,000 more were injured of varying degrees of severity. Some have even been raped. My task now is to help, including children, to do everything possible for them. By changing some things now, we can change the lives of many Ukrainian children," TuttoMercatoWeb quoted Shevchenko as saying.
