Bulgaria failed to defeat Lithuania in European Championship qualifying match In the recent football match between Bulgaria and Lithuania, a tense struggle unfolded on the pitch. Despite the changes, Lithuania continued to dominate and quickly increased their lead in the 55th minute when P. Sirvis scored his second goal of the match. The Bulgarian team struggled to contain their opponents' attacking endeavours throughout the match. As the match progressed, the tension on the pitch increased, which led to several yellow cards. Players of both teams got into the referee's book: Bulgarians V. Antov and A. Kraev, as well as Lithuanian G. Gineitis received warnings at different moments of the game.
In the 42nd minute, A. Kraev was removed from the field for his actions for a red card, and Bulgaria remained in the minority. Nevertheless, both teams continued to fight for control and in the 74th minute Lithuania looked to have increased their lead further. However, the goal was cancelled due to offside, much to the relief of the Bulgarian team. At the end of the match, both teams made substitutions to freshen up the line-ups. In the 78th minute V. Slivka and E. Jankauskas appeared in the Lithuanian line-up. Jankauskas, and in the 79th minute S. Delev and G. Ivanov appeared for Bulgaria. Despite these late substitutions, neither team was able to change the final score. Lithuania won a convincing 2-0 victory over Bulgaria. This result shows the difficulties Bulgaria is facing in their fight to qualify for the European Championship. The match showed Lithuania's strength and ability to capitalise on their opportunities, while Bulgaria need to reflect on their game and regroup for future matches. Both teams showed great endeavour and determination, providing an exciting football spectacle for the fans gathered at the Vasil Levski Stadium. Despite the fact that Bulgaria suffered a defeat in this case, the qualification tournament for the European Championship is far from over and they will undoubtedly strive for victory in the coming matches.
