We present the chief referee of the match Malta vs Ukraine. The Dane, who recently dismissed Vanatat

As previously reported, UEFA has named the refereeing team for the Euro 2024 qualifying match between the national team of Malta and Ukraine, which will be held next Tuesday, 17 October, in Malta. All referees are from Denmark and Morten Krog will be the head referee for the match.

Morten Krogh

The 35-year-old Krog has been officiating matches in Denmark's elite division since 2012, and he became a FIFA referee in 2018.

The match involving the national team of Ukraine will be served by Krog for the first time. This referee has never crossed paths with Ukrainian clubs either. At the same time in June this year, the Dane was the chief referee of the match of the final part of the youth Euro-2023 (U-21) between the "youth" of Romania and Ukraine (0:1). In that meeting, Krog showed five yellow cards, and in the compensated time of the second half removed for a flagrant foul forward of the Ukrainian team Dynamo Kyiv Vladyslav Vanat.

The last time Krog was appointed by UEFA was for the Europa League group stage match of the current season between English Liverpool and Belgian Union (2-0). Interestingly, in this meeting, the Dane did not show a single yellow card.

In total, Krog has 34 international matches under his belt, including just one - within the qualifying cycles of the World and European Championships and the final stages of these tournaments.

We would like to add that Krog is an extremely loyal referee who allows teams to play: on average, the Dane shows less than four yellow cards per match, and removes players - in every eighth game under his arbitration.
