The head coach of the Maltese national football team, Michele Marcolini, has told what he expects from the match against Ukraine in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, which will take place today in Malta.
"With the exception of the last match, against North Macedonia, the Ukrainian national team used the same formation. This indicates that the opponent has a clearly defined style of play, which our team will have to fight against.
The situation is different now than before our previous meeting. Back then, Ukraine had just got a new coach who didn't have much time to implement his thoughts.
I expect a different game. We need to adapt to the new Ukrainian national team. We understand that the opponent is fighting with Italy for second place in the group. This adds to the importance of our meeting, as its result will have a direct impact on the standings," Marcolini said.
