Belgian law enforcement officers have managed to detain a criminal who shot two Swedish national team fans, RTBF reports.
According to the source, the weapon used in the shooting was found in his possession. It will take time to fully identify the person, but the Federal Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the man who killed the Swedish fans was indeed the one who was detained. It is also noted that the offender was wounded in the chest during a police operation to arrest him.
It will be recalled that the Euro 2024 qualifying match between Belgium and Sweden, which took place yesterday in Brussels, was cancelled and postponed indefinitely.
The match started as scheduled, but just before it began, two people wearing Swedish national team uniforms were shot dead in the centre of Brussels. Another fan was injured. According to unofficial information, the shooter loudly uttered the phrase "Allahu Akbar" during his actions.
