Oleksandriya's head coach Ruslan Rotan may take over at Shakhtar Donetsk. This was reported by Dmytro Pasichnyk, a former employee of Media Group Ukraine, on his Telegram channel.
According to the source, in the summer, Dario Srna offered Rotan as Shakhtar's coach, but then club president Akhmetov settled on the candidacy of van Leeuwen, on whose invitation Palkin insisted.
Now, after the Dutchman's dismissal, Shakhtar can return to Rotan's candidacy. The official appointment, if approved, will take place before the start of the 2024/2025 season, after Rotan takes part in the Olympic Games with the Ukrainian youth team.
As a reminder, Shakhtar are currently temporarily led by Dario Srna.
