Oleksandr Kovpak: "Shakhtar have lost ground significantly. "Dynamo played as they did last year, and they are still playing"

Oleksandr Kovpak, the former head coach of Cherkasy's LNZ, doesn't see much of a sensation in the fact that Kryvbas and Polissia are at the top of the Ukrainian league table.

- Last season, Kryvbas had a very good finish to the season, and it was clear that the ambitions of this revived club were not limited to the status of a mid-table side. And Polissia, back in the first league, was preparing itself for big things. The budget and selection of players were at the level of the UPL leaders. They are well-played, balanced, and therefore not accidentally at the top of the standings.

Speaking of the giants, only Shakhtar have lost ground. "Dynamo played as well as they did last year, although for some reason people expect more from them. We have all long wanted a third force to emerge in Ukrainian football that would challenge our two giants. And such a force has appeared, however, in the person of not one club, but a whole cohort of teams. And it's really great," Kovpak said.
