The case of fictitious service of Prykarpattia football players: the defendant was taken into custody and suspended from work

The State Bureau of Investigation reported that the court remanded in custody an employee of the military registration and enlistment office in Prykarpattia, who had recruited professional football players from Prykarpattia for fictitious service.

"The Lychakiv District Court of Lviv imposed a measure of restraint in the form of detention on the commander of the security company of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Territorial Centre for Recruitment and Social Support. The court allowed him to be released on bail in the amount of UAH 214,000. The court also suspended him from duty for a month," the statement said.

As previously established by the investigation, the commander enlisted seven people who were players and coaches of a local professional football team for military service in the security company. All of them served only on paper and did not perform any military duties. In total, these individuals "served" for 1,100 days, and their fictitious service cost the budget almost UAH 1.5 million.
