Vitalii Polianskyi, centre-back of the second-league Trostianets, spoke about life in the city during the Nazi occupation and after the liberation.

Vitaly Polyansky

- We lived in a hotel for three weeks until they gave us a green corridor. The management asked us not to go outside. Food and water were brought to our door. When the electricity and water were cut off, we were all finally convinced of Russia's 'brotherly' love. The locals helped us a lot, knowing that the team was actually locked in the hotel. They were afraid that the hotel where we were staying would be hit. We saw soldiers with machine guns and a lot of equipment. The management kept in touch and assured us that they would soon give a green corridor to civilians.

After the liberation, everything is functioning here, there are no arrivals. The sirens? Yes, you can hear them all over Ukraine. I haven't felt any threat to my life since I've lived here. The city has recovered from the occupation, business is functioning, as well as utilities. No one knows what will happen tomorrow. We will see," the footballer said.
