Cristian Balai, the president of Romanian CFR Cluj, has commented on comparisons between Ukrainian midfielder Yevhen Konoplyanka and former Real Madrid striker Julio Baptista, who played only three games for the Romanian team in the 2018/2019 season.
"You know why this can't be another Baptista-type case? Baptista earned in a month as much as Konoplyanka will earn in the whole period. Not sure exactly how many months exactly, but a lot. Believe me, the difference is big. So far, Konoplyanka has either not played or played very little," Balai told Turkish publication Fanatik.
According to the source, Baptista earned €45,000 a month in Cluj. According to unofficial information, Konoplyanka's salary at the Romanian club is 15-20 thousand euros a month.
