Artem Frankov on Charlton's death: 'Gone is an incredible footballer and a man about whom no-one would say a bad word...'"

Famous journalist Artem Frankov commented on the news of the death of legendary English footballer Sir Bobby Charlton.

Sir Bobby Charlton

"I mourn... Sir Robert Charlton (1937 - 2023) passed away. Legendary English footballer, leader of two great teams - the England national team (World Champion 1966) and MU (KECH 1968).

He played only for MU - 1956-73 (807/260), left wing-back and attacking midfielder. Champion of England - 1957, 1965, 1967, Cup - 1963. Miraculously survived Munich and was treated for a long time, but he survived, came back and showed everyone! Golden Ball winner - 1966.

He came from an extremely sporting and football family: numerous Milburns are close relatives of the Charltons, and his own brother Jackie, with all the difficult (on the grounds of his mother) relations, was also the main player of the national team at the victorious World Cup.

Please stand up and raise your glasses everyone, even Liverpool and City fans - an incredible footballer and a man about whom no one will say a bad word even many years later has gone!
Honestly: there are tears in my eyes and I have no idea how to write yet...", - Frankov wrote in his Telegram channel.
