According to Sky Sports, a group of Manchester City fans chanted offensive chants about Charlton during a half-time match against Brighton in the 9th round of the Premier League. The club condemned the behaviour of the fans and promised to punish the perpetrators by examining the CCTV footage.

"The club strongly condemns these chants and apologises to Sir Bobby's family and friends, as well as all Manchester United employees. On this day, when the stadium stood up to pay tribute to our legend Francis Lee, Manchester City fans should understand and appreciate the need for respect in our game more than anyone else.

Our security team is reviewing the CCTV footage. We are grateful to those who have already come forward to speak to us about this matter and we continue to appeal for any information that can help us identify those involved so that we can take appropriate action to address them," the club said in a statement.
