Tottenham's head coach Angelos Postecoglou has spoken out about the military conflict between Palestine and Israel that erupted on 7 October.
- "Tottenham's leaders are people who care about this conflict. As a football manager, I can try to provide support with advice or guidance.
I've always felt that the greatest role of sport in general and football in particular is that, as cliché as it may sound, it can be a form of escapism. For 90-95 minutes, you can take people away from the hardships they're going through, no matter where they are. You can distract them for a little while, even if it's just for the period of time that they support their football club. Maybe that way we can give them some comfort," said Angelos Postecoglou.
As a reminder, Hamas's attack on Israel began on 7 October 2023 at around 6:30 a.m. local time with a massive rocket attack from Gaza and the armed forces' invasion of the country. The attack killed many Israelis, mostly civilians, and foreigners. The Israeli government declared a state of emergency and launched retaliatory rocket attacks on the Gaza Strip.
