Two-time Olympic champion: "I consider Oleg Blokhin to be the fastest"

Valeriy Borzov, a two-time Olympic champion and the first and only Soviet sprinter to win Olympic gold in the 100 and 200 metres, believes Dynamo Kyiv legend Oleg Blokhin was the fastest footballer of his era.

Valeriy Borzov believes that no one could compete with him in his signature races, but that the legendary Dynamo Kyiv player Oleh Blokhin had quite decent potential.

"No one would have been able to impose competition. Because the players were not preparing for the sprint. They were preparing for another sport. But I think Oleg Blokhin is the fastest."

Borzov also explained why Usain Bolt, the eight-time Olympic champion and lightning man, failed to fulfil himself in football.

After his professional athletics career, the Jamaican signed a contract and even played a couple of matches for the Australian football club Central Coast Mariners.

"Football is not athletics. Inaddition to speed, it requires other special qualities," he told Sport-express.ua in a long exclusive interview.
