Both teams fought hard in the first half and each managed to score a goal in a thrilling encounter. Already in the 3rd minute Bologna had their first shot on goal when the young sensation J. Sassuolo quickly responded just before the break when D. Boloka equalised in the 44th minute, showing his resilience and determination. At the start of the second half, Bologna made an early substitution in the 46th minute, bringing on L. De Silvestri in place of S. Poche to strengthen the defence. The game became more tense, with both teams fighting fiercely for dominance. In the 58th minute Bologna player K. Lykogiannis received a yellow card, which further strengthened the game. Sassuolo wasted no time and made their first substitution in the 59th minute, bringing on K. Torstvedt instead of U. Racic. However, in the next minute the referee showed a yellow card to Bologna's T. Motta, emphasising the physicality of the game. Motte, emphasising the physical component of the match.
On 63 minutes Bologna made two more quick substitutions: A. Salemaekers replaced D. Ndoye and K. Lykogiannis replaced V. Christiansen. Trying to turn the tide of the match, Bologna introduced M. Ebisher instead of O. El Azzouzi in the 69th minute. The game continued to be willful and in the 71st minute, Bologna's El-Azzouzi received a yellow card. Sassuolo responded with two substitutions in the 72nd minute, with N. Bayrami replacing C. Volpato and A. Lauriente replacing E.K. Seide. In the 80th minute there was controversy: Bologna seemed to take the lead, but the goal was cancelled due to offside. Tensions mounted and both teams made further changes to their line-ups. In the 84th minute Bologna replaced O. El Azzouzi with N. Moro, and in the 88th minute Sassuolo introduced A. Pinamonti instead of G. Defrel. In the 90th minute, the last Sassuolo player D. Berardi received a yellow card as both teams desperately tried to snatch victory. However, neither team could break the deadlock until the final whistle, resulting in a hard-fought 1-1 draw. The match between Sassuolo and Bologna showed all the spice of Serie A football, with both teams demonstrating great skill and determination. As a result of the draw both teams got a point each, which emphasises the unpredictability of the league and ensures constant interest of the fans.
