Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih head coach Yuriy Vernydub commented on his team's 3-0 victory over Dnipro-1 in yesterday's match of the 12th round of the Ukrainian championship.
"It was a good match by us, as well as by Dnipro-1. It so happened that we started late (due to air raid alert - ed.). This affected both teams somewhat. In the first half, we played downwind, did very well, scored two good goals. We made quick attacks, and Dnipro-1 had almost no chances.
I was very worried about the second half, I was telling the guys that they had to play very well in defence. After all, the opponent has very fast players. These are Lednev, Filippov, Hutsulyak. There are players who can pass well. These are Pikhalonok, Rubchynskyi, Babenko. But our players coped with it, started the second half from a position of strength.
And began to conduct good counterattacks. One of them resulted in the third goal. Then we could say we played out the game somewhere. Although Dnipro-1 had some moments when Kryvbas fought back. We didn't get a penalty, but that's football. Today we won, we should be happy about it, but forget about it as soon as possible, because there are no less serious matches ahead: On 6 November in Zhytomyr, my hometown, with Polissia, and on 12 November with Dynamo. Two important matches," said Vernydub.
