Argentine forward Lionel Messi has shared his emotions after being awarded the Ballon d'Or, which was the eighth in his career for the player.

"It's nice to be here again and enjoy this moment. It's nice that I was lucky enough to win the World Cup and fulfil a dream. I could not have imagined that I would have this career and all that I have achieved, that I would be able to be part of the best team in history, to win the America's Cup and the World Cup - after all these difficult moments in the national team," Messi was quoted by the BBC.
