Legendary German footballer Lothar Matthäus disagrees that the Ballon d'Or was awarded to Lionel Messi again.
"Last year, Holland played better than the Argentine. Messi won unfairly. But it shows that the World Cup matters more than anything else. I think Holland is the best player of the last 12 months, he won important trophies with Manchester City and broke records for goals scored. In my opinion, no one has beaten Holland. This vote is a farce, even though I am a Messi fan," Matteus was quoted as saying by Sky Sport.
