However, their joy was short-lived, as in the 73rd minute Roma reacted quickly and made two substitutions. H. Aouar and S. Azmoun took to the pitch with the task of turning the tide of the game. In the 76th minute, Roma's disciplinary problems continued: R. Sanchez received a yellow card.
Lecce also had discipline problems: a minute later Y. Ramadani was sent off. The match was becoming increasingly unpredictable, with both teams looking to equalise or score the decisive goal.
