Former Dnipro-1 coach Oleksandr Kucher commented on Luhansk Zorya's 1-3 defeat by Israeli Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 4th round of the Conference League group stage.
"Both teams are, as they say, playful - they like to play with the ball. The match turned out to be interesting, each of the opponents had enough chances to score.
During the attacks, Zorya had good scoring opportunities, the team could score, but... But it was difficult in defence, and we saw that the defenders were somewhat static. There were throws into the Luhansk penalty area, after one of which one Maccabi player scored the ball while four defenders were looking at him. Zorya had too many problems in defence. After these mistakes, everything was clear at the end of the first half.
In the second half of the match, the Israeli team played "by the book" and in this situation it was difficult for Luhansk to fix anything. Yes, one of their goals was disallowed, then they scored another goal, but Zorya failed to make any significant changes.
Will Zorya head coach Valerii Kryventsov resign after this match? It's hard for me to comment on this, because I don't know for sure whether it was a decision of the club's management, Kryventsov himself or a joint one. Whatever it was, it was made. So we'll see what happens next. I can say that Valeriy Kryventsov has proved himself to be a specialist. He knows how to work and is a good coach. At least that's what I think," Kucher was quoted as saying by UA-Football.
