Head coach of the Ukraine U-19 national team Oleh Kuznetsov told why he did not call up Borussia Dortmund U-19 midfielder Daniil Krevsun to the team.
Photo: uaf.ua- I would like to ask about Danil Krevsun from Borussia U-19, because yesterday after the announcement of the list this topic gained publicity. What are the overall reasons for this decision?
- We just can't keep track of all the players. The information reached me only two weeks ago, when we had already made all the lists. We just did not know anything about this player.
- In general, there are a lot of Ukrainians in the German youth championships. Maybe some work has already been done to intensify scouting in this region?
- Once again I say - it is hard for us to follow it. Now only since August, on the initiative of the Spanish youth national team coach (Unai Melgosa - note) we have made such an institute of scouts. That is, each youth team is assigned a certain person, a scout, who should monitor. And in Ukraine for players of a certain age, and abroad. That is why we have just started to do it. Once again I say that we can not cover. The information that reaches us - we have invited new players to this training camp. I know that there are a lot of players in Poland, in Hungary, all over Europe. But we physically cannot watch them all.
It is one thing to watch what they send to me and to the service, some slices. But there is nothing to see and nothing is clear. If there was an opportunity to hold a training camp in Europe and invite them, then we would see a lot of players. And so once again I say that purely physically we can`t.
- I am also interested in the situation with Andrei Firman from Juventus. Last year you called him up to the U-17 national team, but now he is not in the U-19. What are the reasons in this case?
- Also, once again, those people who recommended - we listened to them, took them to the elite round in Italy. That is, they had not held any friendly tournaments with us before that. And, judging by what we saw, they did not help us much in Italy. The same Firman, then there was another one from Milan, or.... I don't remember now, one at Juventus, one at Milan. But I would not say that they were a head above the players playing in Ukraine. We follow them, but at the moment we believe that they are the strongest players in Ukraine.
