Former Dynamo Kyiv and USSR defender Oleg Kuznetsov, who now coaches the Ukrainian youth national team, commented on the appointment of Oleksandr Shovkovskyi as Kyiv's coach.

- "Mircea Lucescu left a big mark on Ukrainian football. He became the absolute record holder for trophies among coaches. Lucescu made our football brighter because he brought emotions to it. He never made you feel sad, and at the same time he had great authority.

Of course, Lucescu gave Shakhtar more than Dynamo. He not only won titles with the team, but also helped the club with its strategy. "Shakhtar bought young Brazilians for little money, who, under Lucescu's leadership, got into the top clubs in Europe and brought the miners a lot of money. But the Romanian's career at Dynamo was unsuccessful. But there are reasons for that. He worked during the Covid era and after the full-scale Russian invasion. In addition, during Lucescu's tenure, Dynamo did not buy anyone, and over the past two years, 14 leading players have left the team.

Now Shovkovsky has to get the game going and show the right results by winter. And during the winter break, the club's management will decide Shovkovskyi's fate. Most likely, he will be a temporary coach, the club will look for a foreign specialist," said Kuznetsov.
