Ukraine's national team starts preparations for Euro 2024 qualifying match with Italy in Gdansk

Last Monday, the national team of Ukraine began preparations in Gdansk, Poland, for the Euro 2024 qualifying match with Italy, which will take place on 20 November in Leverkusen.

Early yesterday morning, the players of Shakhtar and Dnipro-1, who had played each other on Sunday at Arena Lviv, left Lviv for Rzeszow Airport, where they met with the administrative and medical staff of the national team to fly to Gdansk. The Kyiv Dynamo team, who played Kryvbas on the same Sunday, did not have time to catch the train to Kyiv from Kryvyi Rih. Therefore, the Kyiv team left the capital last night and will arrive at the training ground today on a regular flight from Warsaw.

Meanwhile, the main group of people has already gathered in the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Our "Englishmen" - Oleksandr Zinchenko, Vitaliy Mykolenko, Mikhail Mudryk and Ilya Zabarny, as well as the "Belgian" Sergey Sidorchuk - were already waiting for the passengers of the Rzeszow charter at the Gdansk airport terminal. Just 40 minutes later, the leaders of the Spanish La Liga - Artem Dovbyk and Viktor Tsygankov - arrived, followed by Anatolii Trubin, Ruslan Malinowski and the national team's debutant Maksym Taloverov. Gradually, all the Ukrainian legionnaires gathered at the hotel where the blue and yellows will be staying for this week - Roman Yaremchuk arrived a little later.

The first training session took place yesterday at Lechia's old arena, popularly known as the Stadium na Traugutt (after the name of the street where it is located). The local club played its matches here for 66 years - from 1945 to 2011, until the construction of the Arena Gdańsk for Euro 2012. Today, Traugutt is part of the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre and is also one of the fields of Lechia's club infrastructure.

This evening's training session of the Ukrainian national team was attended by nine players who had played their matches no later than Saturday, as well as Yegor Nazarina, who did not take part in yesterday's match against Shakhtar. After jogging and warming up, the guys worked out in the square and then went to the hotel to work on their fitness. By the way, the rest of the national team worked out in the gym yesterday.
