Montenegro took the lead in the 36th minute when S. Rubezic scored, giving his team a 1-0 lead before the break. However, Hungary made several key substitutions at half-time, bringing on Z. Kalmar and L. Nego to turn the game in their favour. The second half was a turning point for Hungary and they managed to get back into the game. In the 67th minute D. Szoboszlai put the ball into the net with a powerful shot, levelling the score on the scoreboard - 1:1. A minute later, D. Szoboszlai struck again, demonstrating great composure, and put Hungary ahead.
A goal in the 68th minute not only put Hungary ahead, but also demonstrated Szoboszlai's incredible scoring ability. In a desperate attempt to salvage their chances, Montenegro made several substitutions, hoping for a change in fortunes. However, Hungary continued to dominate the match, effectively controlling the game. In the 90th minute, another player came on in place of A. Nagy and he soon managed to score a fantastic goal, sealing Hungary's 3-1 victory. Throughout the match, both teams showed fierce determination and competitive spirit, resulting in an exciting spectacle for the fans. Although Montenegro took the lead in the first half, the Hungarians' resilience and ability to capitalise on their opportunities was the deciding factor. The victory at the Puskás Arena gave Hungary a significant boost in their European Championship qualifying campaign and emphasised their potential.
