Euro 2024 qualifiers: Ukraine's youth team defeats Slovakia and makes it to the elite round of selection

Today, the youth national team of Ukraine (players not older than 2005) has successfully completed the fight in the qualifying round of Euro 2024 (U-19).

Oleh Kuznetsov's men played in Group 7 alongside the teams from Slovakia, Kosovo and Malta. After winning the first match of the mini-tournament, which took place in the Maltese city of Ta' Qali, over the hosts (3: 1), the Ukrainians lost to Kosovo (0: 4) in the next game.

To advance from the group, the blue and yellows had to beat Slovakia in the final match of the quartet. And our team coped with its task.

A 10-minute spell in the first half resulted in goals by Ivan Yermachkov, Maksym Derkach and Taras Mikhavko, and at the end of the match Matvey Ponomarenko put the game to bed, so in the end, the Ukrainian youth team won a crushing 4-0 victory. Next year, the blue and yellows will take part in the elite qualifying round, which will be drawn in December.
