Former Ukraine national team player Oleh Shelayev commented on the results of the draw for the play-offs of Euro 2024 qualification.
"The fact that the Ukrainian national team got into path B, I consider it a good luck. Still, in my opinion, the potential opponents from the path A, where Sergey Rebrov's wards could also find themselves, are more famous and stronger.
Our opponent in the semi-finals - Bosnia and Herzegovina - is from the passable, as well as the other pair - Israel and Iceland. And the fact that we will have to play on the field of the Balkans should not frighten us. Because of the martial law, the Ukrainian national team, at best, even home matches are forced to play on a neutral field, so it has already adapted to everything. Since many of our players play in the top championships, they will be in fighting form in March. This is pleasing. I highly assess the chances of the Ukrainians to qualify for Euro 2024," Shelayev said.
