Traore replaced M. Cho and A. Elustondo respectively. The tension on the pitch reached its peak in the 88th minute when Sevilla's S. Ramos was sent off after receiving a red card. Soon his team-mate J. Navas also received a red card, leaving Sevilla with nine men. In the final minutes of the game, Sevilla tried to salvage a point by bringing on L. Ocampos and Fernando as the last players in the 90th minute. However, Real Sociedad defended staunchly, giving Sevilla no chance to equalise. The final whistle blew as Real Sociedad claimed a 2-1 victory. This match showed resilience and the ability to stand firm, especially in the face of Sevilla's late onslaught.
